“Every 3 Days vs. Every 7 Days”: Which Upload Schedule Grows a Channel Faster?

“Every 3 Days vs. Every 7 Days”: Which Channels Grow Faster?

If you run a YouTube channel, you've probably had this thought at some point.

"Is my upload schedule too slow?" "Am I posting too frequently?"

This concern is especially common for creators who are relatively new to making videos.

So, we decided to compare the actual data. Between a channel that posts every 3 days and one that posts every 7 days, which one truly grows faster?

The Numbers Tell the Story

We analyzed approximately 3,000 Korean channels with under 10,000 subscribers to see the relationship between their video upload frequency and their subscriber/view growth rates.

- Posting every 3 days: 8.2% weekly subscriber growth, 12.5% average view growth.
- Posting every 7 days: 5.6% weekly subscriber growth, 7.9% average view growth.

Channels that uploaded every 3 days showed faster growth in both subscribers and views. In terms of views, the difference was nearly 1.5 times greater.

The YouTube Algorithm Responds to "Patterns"

YouTube doesn't just favor "well-made videos." What it often values more is a consistent "upload pattern."

When a channel consistently uploads new content every 3 days, subscribers get into a rhythm of watching, which naturally increases the video's exposure in the algorithm's feed.

In other words, a channel that uploads frequently and on a regular schedule builds a system that generates its own viewership.

But Simply Posting Frequently Isn't Enough

However, this doesn't mean you should just "post as often as possible."

In our analysis, some channels that uploaded every 3 days actually suffered from higher subscriber churn due to a drop in video quality.

Ultimately, the key is to strike a balance between "frequency + a certain level of quality."

What's the Optimal Upload Schedule?

Considering realistic constraints, here's a general guide:

- If possible, one video every 3-4 days is ideal.
- Twice a week: A great sweet spot that balances consistency and performance.
- Once a week: This is on the slower side and may require supplemental content (like Community posts, Shorts, etc.) to maintain momentum.

Different Upload Strategies for Different Channel Types

- Informational/Review Channels: 1-2 long-form videos per week + short-form Shorts.
- Lifestyle/Vlog Channels: 2 videos per week + regular Community posts.
- Shorts-Focused Channels: Upload a new Short every 2-3 days.

If You're Starting Out, Find Your "3-Day Rhythm"

If you're currently running a channel, it might be more effective to review your upload schedule before trying to immediately boost your video quality.

YouTube is a platform that thrives on consistent patterns. Especially in the early stages, a "3-day rhythm" can be a powerful tool for growth.
